Meet the Talking Piano – “Play me”
Here at Make This Noise, we love sharing examples of new creative uses of music in advertising that show a brand’s true value. The Blitz agency in Beirut placed a talking piano at the ABC Dbayeh, one of the busiest shopping centres in Lebanon. A male robotic voice surprised shoppers and invited them to “play him” and once you started playing, the piano would rate your performance. You could either get a real slap in the face comment (“Practice makes perfect – Try 10 Years…”) or if you were good enough to mess around with it you could get tickets for the renowned Al Bustan International Music Festival.
Dalia Nahas, the Creative Director at Blitz, says they came up with this idea to encourage people of all ages and who simply appreciate good music to attend the festival: “We chose an activation rather than a traditional ad because we wanted to rejuvenate and democratize classical music.”
Check out the glowing performances below:
This piano travelled all across social media, blogs as well as the National French TV, which highlighted this idea as an example of new advertising trends and technologies. We’ll be looking out for more of these…
